Job Summary
Basic care
Feed and water animals, transfer to clean cages, and clean pens.
Observe laboratory animals, identify and report deviations from the normal physiological state.
Provide support in identification of animals via transponders, tattoos or other identification marks and label animal quarters using cage cards.
Organization of material and stock/Operating cage washer
Keep supplies stocked.
Provide support in operating cage washer, clean and fill water bottles. Fill cages with bedding/litter, enrichment, diet/pellets.
Environmental parameters
Inspect and record environmental parameters (temperature, humidity) on a daily basis (IVC Smart Flows/documentation protocols)
Health status
Provide support in taking samples during routine health checks in accordance with FELASA criteria. Collecting Faeces, packing animals
Cleaning and disinfection measures
Complete daily cleaning of animal housing rooms, disinfection of animal housing rooms to be completed 3 x weekly. Regular cleaning of all non-animal housing rooms. If qualified extended cleaning and H2O2 room disinfection (not mandatory)
Euthanasia
In accordance with legislative requirements, after instruction in the use of CO2 equipment - FELASA qualification mandatory + in house training mandatory
Formal activities
If needed Abbvie Internal training via Compliance Wire -in house training
Job Qualifications
Qualification
Animal care training or training with equivalent qualification (e.g. veterinarian assistant)
Former FELASA B Qualification at least A
Continuous further training in the field of laboratory animals
Medical check (allergens, noise, respiratory, check pre-condition screen work - might not be necessary here)
